Visiting Mumbai for the first time can be a bit overwhelming, the sheer amount of people that live here can make it quite intimidating. A lot of people means a lot of cars so be prepared to deal with lots of traffic and the noise that accompanies it. Mumbai actually led the way transport wise for India, the first bus service began here and the first train service ran between Mumbai and Thane.

There is a definite and obvious social economical divide in India and it is very apparent in Mumbai. Be prepared to be haggled to buy things and for money in general. Always ensure that you don’t carry much money on your person. This incredibly culturally diverse city is home to 3 UNESCO World Heritage sites, Elephanta Caves, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Terminus railway station.

The best way to get around Mumbai is by using their public transport system of buses and trains. A local rickshaw is also a popular choice. Mumbai experiences warm weather year-round with a period called the monsoon. Torrential rainfall called the monsoon falls from June to October with temperatures hitting a top of 83°F year-round.

Lingmala Waterfall Point is about a quarter of a mile’s walk from the parking lot. You have to trek about 200 steps to get there. Once at the waterfall which is best visited during the Monsoon season so there is plenty of water, you can jump off the cliffs. The cliffs are about 18 feet high, always check the water depth and jump at your own risk. The area in which you can jump safely is by the base and off the short rocks. You are likely to encounter locals who are cliff jumping so be sure to get direction from them. You can still visit the falls in other months apart from during the monsoon season, it just won’t be as great. This view is of the entire Lingmala waterfall, not the height at which you jump from!
