There is plenty to do for the adventure lover from some of the most picturesque hikes in the world up the Pitons to reef diving, ziplining and more. Soak up the minerals in a natural volcanic mud spring or relax on one of the many beaches. Foodies will not be disappointed with the delicious fresh fish, conch fritters, pork belly and more that is served all over the island with that wonderful island hospitality.

History lovers can check out one of the forts, churches, local markets and cultural villages across the island. There really is something for everyone here on this amazing island. The best way to get around Saint Lucia is by rental car or on a pre-booked minibus. Taxis and water taxis are also available, however, they are more expensive. Whatever you end up doing on this stunning island, you are sure to have a blast. However, in today’s blog we will be exploring the best adventures kicking off with the famous pitons of course!

Hike To The Stunning Summit Of Gros Piton

Gros Piton Saint Lucia Island adventures

Gros Piton is St. Lucia’s second highest peak standing 2,618 feet high. Embark on a scenic 2.9-mile out-and-back trail that takes you up 1,814 feet of elevation gain. This hike takes around 3 hours to complete and the view from the peak is just stunning. The unfortunate thing about this hike is that it has to be done with a local guide. Click the link below to find a guide that suits you.   Alternatively, you can head to the interpretive center located in the small village of Fond Gens Libre and find a guide. There you will need to pay the permit fee and then start your hike. Get a stunning view of the incredible water and Gros Piton’s sister peak, Petite Piton. Do not forget your camera as the view will take your breath away.

Petite Piton is the sister peak of Gros Piton. Set out on this challenging hike that requires you to have good climbing skills. Embark on this 1.0-mile out-and-back trail that takes you up 1,250 feet of elevation gain and around 2 hours to complete. Unfortunately, to be able to embark on this hike you will be required to pay for a local guide. You can find one from the link below or alternatively look for one when you’re in St Lucia near the trail-head. The views are absolutely incredible.

Hike Mount Gimie: Tallest Mountain In St Lucia

Mount Gimie is St Lucia’s tallest peak standing at 3,117 feet. Formed over intense volcanic activity over 300,000 years ago. Mount Gimie is still volcanic! Unlike Gros Piton and Petite Piton, Mount Gimie is far less touristy with a limited amount of people attempting this very challenging hike. This hike is the hardest on the island and some who have attempted it have said it is the hardest hike they have ever done. People take anywhere between 3 and 7 hours to complete this 2.9-mile out-and-back trail. You will gain 1,820 feet in elevation. Although not legally binding, it is recommended that you hire a guide for this hike.

Jalousie Plantation Beach which is also known as sugar beach is a stunning stretch of sand that in fact could be the most picturesque beach in St Lucia. This sheltered bay offers great swimming and amazing views of the mountains and rainforest. Paradise? We think so!

Reduit Beach is a popular beach in St Lucia. It is hit and miss whether it is going to be crowded or not, avoid when the big cruise ships are docked. This narrow but stunning stretch of sand offers great swimming and water sports rental like jet skis. If you are after some great snorkeling then this isn’t the beach for you. Sit back and relax at Reduit Beach. Chairs and umbrellas are pay to use along with anything you get from the bar.

Pigeon Island Beach is the place to go to get that great vacation photo on a beach swing. This picturesque beach features crystal clear water that is ideal for snorkeling, white sand and stunning views. There are sunbeds and umbrellas available to rent along with a team of staff ready to look after your every need. There is a bar and restaurant convenient to the beach. This makes for a great day out. The water here is generally calm which makes it ideal for swimming.

Snorkel At Anse Chastanet Beach

Anse Chastanet Beach has some of the best snorkeling in St Lucia. This gorgeous beach offers great coral reef snorkeling just off the shore along with the iconic St Lucia mountain views. Most of the beach chairs are owned by the hotel resort and it isn’t worth paying to rent one here as it is quite steep. Opt for the sand. There is a bar and restaurant that serves food and drinks again connected to the hotel so I suggest taking your own food to enjoy this beautiful spot. Be cautious while snorkeling as boats come in and out.

Go Power Snorkeling

Adventure Tours St Lucia offers several tours but none more popular than power snorkeling. St Lucia is home to crystal clear water and what better way to experience it than to snorkel. You’ll head out on a speed boat and leave the crowds behind so its just you, the open water and the stunning volcanoes. Power snorkeling is done with the aid of a powered propeller device that carries you through the water much faster than swimming. So this adds a bit more of an adrenaline rush to your adventure.

Just off of Anse Cochon Beach lies the shipwreck of Lesleen M. This old cargo ship sank in 1986 and has now become an artificial reef that is home to dozens of species of coral and fish. The wreckage being a cargo ship means its large spanning over 165 feet long and 60 feet deep. This ship still has its original ladders allowing you to explore the cabins of the main deck. If you are an experienced diver with your own equipment then you can go ahead and explore this incredible shipwreck otherwise you can book a dive below with a professional. Be sure to have all the copies of your diving certifications with you.

Go cliff jumping with the locals just on the Northern end of the beach in Soufriere. Just by the little pier next to the Seashell beach restaurant. The cliffs along that Northern edge are perfect for cliff jumping. You can double check with the locals for the exact spot and watch the video on our app. This has to be one of the most scenic places in the world to go cliff jumping. Please be aware that jumping is always at your own risk, check the water depth and for any rocks before jumping. What a rush!

Get Your Natural Face Mask On At St Lucia Sulphur Hot Springs

Saint Lucia sulfur springs mud bath

St Lucia Sulphur Hot Springs is located by a dormant volcano that hasn’t erupted since the 18th century. Hop into these naturally forming hot springs and coat yourself in the luxurious mud that nature provides with all of its healing properties. Be warned that the water here is very hot, much hotter than the average bath. Soak in all those great volcanic minerals however, beauty comes at a cost to your….nose. That’s right, get ready for the potent smell of rotten eggs as you bathe in the sulfur dense water. These pools are not only rich in sulfur but also iron, calcium, copper and magnesium. I suggest wearing a darker colored swimsuit as the mud tends to stain slightly.

Laborie Beach- One Of Saint Lucia’s Best Kept Secrets

Saint Lucia best kept secret beach

Laborie Beach could be one of Saint Lucia’s best kept secrets, well…until now! This beautiful local beach is far less touristy than some of the others so it lacks the amenities. However, what it lacks in amenities, it more than makes up for in pristine beauty. This is where the locals like to go on their beach days so it usually is pretty quiet. This is where you can really relax and feel like you’re in paradise.
